Fernweh Safaris. Draft for review

Privacy Policy

Not approved for publication. Not legally verified.

This draft describes the current Fernweh Safaris website. Business details and provider arrangements still need confirmation. It is not a legally verified privacy notice.

Who is responsible

Fernweh Safaris is the trading name used on this website. It trades under the registration number PVT-5JUZLADG from Rhino Park Road, Karen, Nairobi, Kenya. Sidney Trompell is the authorised representative. The exact registered entity name has not yet been verified. You can contact us at reservations@fernwehsafaris.com or on +254 715 476 731.

Safari enquiries and contact forms

The forms ask for your first and last name, email address, telephone or WhatsApp number and country of residence. You may also provide travel dates, flexibility, the number of adults and children, ages of children, trip length, interests, accommodation preference, budget and a message. A journey name is included where relevant.

These details are used to respond to your request and plan a potential journey. The website sends your enquiry to reservations@fernwehsafaris.com and sends an acknowledgement to your email address through Resend, using Lovable connection services. An acknowledgement is not a booking confirmation.

Please do not send passport copies, payment card details, medical records or other sensitive information through these forms. Details about other travellers should only be provided with appropriate authority. The forms do not request payment card or passport information.

Sidney's planner

The conversational planner stores your answers and whether its introductory message has been dismissed in session storage in your browser. This supports the conversation during that browsing session. The planner does not create a website account or save answers to a website database.

Pressing the WhatsApp handoff opens WhatsApp with a message containing your planner answers. WhatsApp receives that information when you open its service. You decide whether to send the message there. A browser may restore session storage when restoring a browsing session.

Browser storage and cookies

The language preference is stored locally under dk-lang. The analytics choice and its timestamp are stored locally under fw-analytics-consent-v1. The website asks for a new analytics choice after 180 days. Planner answers and message dismissal use session storage. Local storage is not an analytics cookie and can be cleared in your browser settings.

If you allow analytics, Google Analytics can set first party cookies such as _ga and a property specific _ga cookie. These generally have a lifetime of up to two years and may be refreshed by further visits. The cookie lifetime is different from the website's 180 day consent choice.

Rejecting analytics leaves the Google tag unloaded. You can use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to update your choice. Withdrawing consent disables tracking, attempts to remove Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page. Browser controls can also remove stored cookies and preferences.

Google Analytics and consent

Google Analytics 4 measures visits and selected interactions only after you choose Allow analytics. The Google tag runs in an isolated frame. The website sends an explicit page view on initial load and on navigation, avoiding duplicate page views.

Tracked interactions include successful safari enquiries, WhatsApp links, email links, journey enquiry buttons and links to Jungle Oasis Nairobi or Diani Villas where those links exist. Parameters are limited to page paths, catalogue journey names and the selected sister business domain. The custom tracking does not send names, email addresses, telephone numbers, enquiry messages or planner answers. Page URLs supplied to analytics exclude query strings and fragments.

Google also processes technical analytics information such as browser and device information, identifiers and network information. The custom event restrictions do not mean that Google processes no data. The site uses Consent Mode v2. Analytics storage is denied until consent. Advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation remain denied. Google signals and advertising personalisation are disabled in the tag configuration.

Consent is the proposed basis for optional analytics under Article 6 paragraph 1 point a of the GDPR where applicable. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Google's privacy information is available through the link below.

Hosting, fonts, media and technical logs

The website is hosted through Lovable. Requests to the website and its service providers involve technical information such as IP addresses, request times, browser information and requested resources. Hosting and error diagnostics may process technical information to deliver the site and investigate faults.

Fonts load from Google Fonts and Google hosted font servers. Some images and media load from external asset delivery services. Loading these resources contacts those providers even when you have not allowed analytics. They are separate from the consent controlled Google Analytics tag.

WhatsApp, email and external services

WhatsApp is an external messaging service provided by Meta. Opening a WhatsApp link takes you to that service. Email correspondence is handled through our email service and may include information you choose to send. Call scheduling links open Calendly. Those providers have their own privacy notices and may process information independently.

Some blog and travel pages link to Booking.com, travel insurance providers and other external businesses. Affiliate links may allow those businesses to attribute a referral. Clicking a link takes you to the external provider. This notice does not describe every cookie on their websites.

International processing

Fernweh Safaris focuses on journeys in Kenya and communicates with international travellers. Google and other providers may process information in the United States or other countries. Countries outside the European Economic Area may provide different legal protections.

No particular transfer safeguard is claimed by this draft. Any applicable transfer mechanism must be verified for the relevant recipient and arrangement before this notice is finalised.

Retention

The browser consent choice expires after 180 days. Language preferences remain in local storage until changed or cleared. Session planner data follows the browser's session storage behaviour. Google Analytics cookies can last up to two years.

Cookie lifetime is not the same as server side event retention or email retention. This draft does not specify unverified retention periods for enquiries, quotations, bookings, financial records, hosting logs or provider records.

Your rights and privacy enquiries

Where the GDPR applies, you may have rights to access, correct or erase information, restrict processing and receive portable data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent for processing that relies on it. Rights depend on the applicable law and may have exceptions.

You can raise a privacy request at reservations@fernwehsafaris.com. We may need proportionate information to verify a request. You may also complain to the competent data protection authority, including an authority in your European Union country where applicable. Other rights may apply under Kenyan or other applicable law.

Review and changes

Draft prepared on 18 October 2026. Changes to the website or the way enquiries are handled may require an updated notice. The approval notes on this page must be resolved before it is presented as a final policy.
