Distances and driving times are approximate planning estimates. Your exact starting point, park gates, road conditions, traffic and stops can change them. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
Transfer days stay lighter. We confirm the practical details before you commit to a final itinerary.

Day by day
Day 1Nairobi
Arrive in Nairobi and allow time for your airport transfer and rest. This sample includes a night in the city before the safari begins. Any city visit depends on your arrival time.
Day 2Nairobi to Amboseli
Travel about 220 to 250 kilometres to Amboseli, allowing four to five hours and additional time for your final park transfer. An afternoon drive depends on arrival time. Overnight in the Amboseli area.
Day 3
Amboseli
Spend a full day on safari around the wetlands and plains. Elephants are a central focus. Kilimanjaro is only visible when cloud conditions allow. Overnight in the Amboseli area.
Day 4Amboseli to Lake Naivasha
Allow seven to nine hours for approximately 350 to 400 kilometres via the Nairobi area. Traffic and stops can extend the journey. Arrive, settle in and leave lake activities for tomorrow. Overnight near Lake Naivasha.
Day 5Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru
A morning boat trip with a qualified local operator can be arranged if conditions are suitable. Then drive about 80 to 100 kilometres, allowing two to three hours including access to the Nakuru area. Keep any afternoon safari short and conditional. Overnight in the Nakuru area.
Day 6
Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara
A short early drive in Lake Nakuru may fit before leaving, depending on the planned gate and base. The onward road journey is about 230 to 300 kilometres and five to seven hours. Do not plan a full Mara safari on arrival. Overnight in the Mara region.
Day 7Maasai Mara
Explore the reserve at a pace shaped by wildlife and your interests. Lions, elephants and other members of the Big Five are possible sightings, not a checklist we can guarantee. Overnight in the Mara region.
Day 8Maasai Mara
A second full day leaves room for different parts of the reserve and unhurried wildlife photography. A balloon safari can be considered separately, subject to weather and arrangements. Overnight in the Mara region.
Day 9
Maasai Mara to Nairobi
Return by road, roughly 250 to 300 kilometres and six to eight hours including stops and slow safari roads. Avoid a tight international flight connection. If your departure is early, add a Nairobi night or discuss a domestic flight instead.
