Leave room for the journey

Distances and driving times are approximate planning estimates. Your exact starting point, park gates, road conditions, traffic and stops can change them. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

Transfer days stay lighter. We confirm the practical details before you commit to a final itinerary.

Day by day

Your sample itinerary

Arrive and settle inDay 1

Nairobi

Arrive and settle in

Arrive in Nairobi and allow time for your airport transfer and rest. This sample includes a night in the city before the safari begins. Any city visit depends on your arrival time.

Into the Rift ValleyDay 2

Nairobi to Lake Nakuru

Into the Rift Valley

Drive about 160 to 190 kilometres to the Nakuru area, allowing four to five hours with stops and park access. A short afternoon game drive may fit if you arrive early enough. Overnight in the Nakuru area.

03

Day 3

Lake Nakuru

Rhinos and the lakeside landscape

Spend a full day exploring Lake Nakuru National Park with your guide. Look for black and white rhinos, buffalo and birdlife. Water levels and seasons affect bird numbers, so large flamingo gatherings are not promised. Overnight in the Nakuru area.

04

Day 4

Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara

A travelling day to the Mara

Allow five to seven hours for roughly 230 to 300 kilometres towards the Mara, depending on your base and entry gate. Keep the day focused on travel and settling in. A brief drive is only an option if time and conditions allow. Overnight in the Mara region.

A full safari dayDay 5

Maasai Mara

A full safari day

Explore the reserve at a pace shaped by wildlife and your interests. Lions, elephants and other members of the Big Five are possible sightings, not a checklist we can guarantee. Overnight in the Mara region.

Follow the wildlife, not the clockDay 6

Maasai Mara

Follow the wildlife, not the clock

A second full day leaves room for different parts of the reserve and unhurried wildlife photography. A balloon safari can be considered separately, subject to weather and arrangements. Overnight in the Mara region.

07

Day 7

Maasai Mara to Nairobi

Return with time to spare

Return by road, roughly 250 to 300 kilometres and six to eight hours including stops and slow safari roads. Avoid a tight international flight connection. If your departure is early, add a Nairobi night or discuss a domestic flight instead.
